Product Data Entry for an Online Store
We assisted a growing online retailer in organizing and uploading their product catalog to a new e-commerce platform. The client had hundreds of products, each with varying attributes — such as size, color, materials, and technical specifications — stored in a mix of Excel sheets, manufacturer websites, and outdated PDFs.
The task required a consistent and accurate data entry workflow. Our team started by reviewing the target platform’s import format (in this case, WooCommerce CSV) and then created a master spreadsheet to unify all relevant data fields. We standardized product titles, cleaned up descriptions, and formatted pricing and SKU codes according to the client’s internal structure.
Images were renamed, resized, and optimized for fast loading. Where product images were missing, we helped source them from approved vendor sites or stock resources. Once the data set was complete, we performed a staged import to ensure no duplicates or format issues appeared on the site.
Platform: WooCommerce
Tools Used: Excel, Google Sheets, GIMP, TinyPNG
Duration: 2 weeks
Scope of Work:
Consolidation and cleanup of fragmented product data
Standardization of names, descriptions, prices, and codes
Image processing (resizing, renaming, compression)
Import file preparation and testing
Final upload and post-import QA
Outcome:
Thanks to this structured approach, the client was able to launch their updated online catalog quickly and efficiently. With properly formatted and searchable product listings, the site became easier to navigate and manage, resulting in fewer customer service requests and better internal tracking.
